Canon has introduced the EOS Digital Rebel T2i, a consumer-level DSLR, which costs only $799 and with features that you couldn’t get before at that price point, such as the 18MP CMOS sensor, full HD video recording capability and user-selectable frame rate of up to 30 fps.

Other goodies on the EOS Digital Rebel T2i DSLR are ISO ranges from 100 to 6400 (with boost level up to 12800), a 63-zone Dual Layer Metering System, Canon’s DIGIC 4 Imaging Processor and an expanded ± 5 EV exposure compensation range.

The Canon DSLR is still ahead of their competitor, Nikon in HD video recording, with the capability of recording full HD (1920×1080) video. And the frame rate is selectable by the user. It also has an HDMI output, which allows you to hook it up to an HD display for playback.

The Canon EOS Digital Rebel T2i DSLR is priced at $799 without a lens. The lens will ship in a kit version in March, which is an EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS zoom lens and costs $100.
