Electronic board games based on wireless OLED technology

Board games will be played electronically and interactively in the future, thanks to the wireless OLED technology that will help make it possible. Currently, the prototype of the interactive board game is being developed at Human Media Lab of Queen’s University in Ontario, Canada, based on the use of wireless OLED technology.

Each player, like the traditional board games will get a white cardboard hexagon, which simply looks like those taken from the game board of Settlers of Catan. But each piece of the cardboard has an OLED display. And with the help of an overhead camera and a projector, each cardboard becomes a mini computer that is capable of displaying video images.
Well, there are still lots of works ahead for the researchers, they anticipate the technologies in 5-10 years down the road, when thin-film Organic LED screens are commonly available to allow the electronic board games to become practical. Watch the clip below for more information.
