Face detection technology has been available in digital cameras, which allows the ease of capturing the best smile or pose of the subject that is a human. But now this technology has been extended in FujiFilm’s Finepix Z700 point and shoot camera, which is capable of detecting when your pets smile.

The FujiFilm’s Finepix Z700 is a 12-megapixel camera which is the first in the company’s product range to include the pet detection software. But it still has problem to capture live animals’ smiles. The camera was tested at a camera show in Japan, it excelled at shooting stuffed animals but didn’t perform well when live animals thrown in front of the lens. And it also failed to track animals when they’re moving around.

So if you wanna use this camera to capture the best photo of your pets, you’ll have to get them to sit still. FujiFilm has a list of the recommended breeds that will work best with the camera’s pet detection technology. The camera will be available sometime this month for a price of $280.
