Pentax 645D DSLR packs 40-megapixel sensor

Pentax 645D DSLR has been officially announced and comes equipped with a 40MP sensor lens that was made by Kodak, as well as an AFOX IX+ autofocus system with 11 sensor points.

The Pentax 645D DSLR is equipped with a large glass prism viewfinder, which allows an approximate 98% of field of view. Along with this. it’s also equipped with an LCD screen that boasts 921k pixel resolution and dual-memory card slots that allow the use of both SD and SDHC memory cards.

This Pentax DSLR is housed in a semi-rugged case, that includes magnesium-steel alloy frame and 70 seals to reduce the risks of physical damage as well as making it weather and dust proof. Although it’s housed in a semi-rugged case but its total weight has been kept down to 1.48kg with the battery and 2 memory cards on, which is considered pretty lightweight.

The 645D is slated to hit the Japanese market in May for a price tag of about $9,500 USD and you have tp pay additional $1,100 for the lens. No information about when it’ll go to other countries such as US and Europe.
