As we already know, Skype Mobile has been rolled out to Verizon Wireless users at this point. The application is being pushed out to devices this morning to make for easy downloading. But now that it is here, we kind of have to wonder what exactly this means for Skype on BlackBerry as a whole. Its been quite a while since Skype made the initial announcement of their intentions to arrive on the BlackBerry platform and in a way, they kind of have really made good on that news. However, I'm quite certain an exclusive deal with Verizon wasn't exactly how BlackBerry users envisioned when Skype released their very limited beta.

So what exactly happened? Was the beta testing phase abruptly stopped and seemingly shut down due to a deal made with Verizon? Could this be part of the reason no one at Skype wanted to answer direct questions about when exactly Skype was coming to BlackBerry? Sure seems that way as I see it. In any case we certainly don't have and likely never will have any answers as to what the future holds for Skype on BlackBerry. But we can still hope that Skype will do right in the long run and make the app available to all BlackBerry users. In the meantime, any Verizon users now using Skype? Let us know in the comments what you think of the service on your device.

You stand there, staring into the cold eyes of your adversary. For months they have been taunting you and now, in their fall from grace, they attempt to deny their fate. You approach your foe with a renewed confidence- the last snowman of winter. You watch as he slowly melts away and imagine hearing its silent screams. With its last moments, it defiantly raises its arm/branch and flips you the bird before fading away.

Folks, welcome to Spring!

Okay so it was a little over dramatic, but you try growing up with Winters where your nostrils stick together every time you breathe. Love it or hate it, Winter is gone and Spring is here. It’s a season of new beginnings and with that, new projects. Why not get them started the right way, with the right apps on your BlackBerry? The sooner you tackle them, the sooner you can enjoy Spring before Summer comes along.

The Google Voice app has been updated to version 0.1.7. No major overhaul in this release, and no changelog means most likely just some minor bug fixes. I'm still holding out for a totally revamped Google Voice App (and some addition to Google Voice itself) that will allow for MMS and some other much needed features. It seems like Google likes to take their sweet time doing anything grand to their BlackBerry Apps, so hopefully down the road we'll see some more goodies come with the updates. Hit the link below to download.

ING Direct has released a free app for Canadians that allows access to accounts on the go. With the application, you can check account balances, view transactions, transfer funds, locate ABMs and more. ING Direct lets you have access to all of the important features on your account, and you can access them right from your BlackBerry when you're on the go. The application is currently only available in Canada, and it looks like most newer devices are supported. You can download OTA via m.ingdirect.ca, or head to BlackBerry Appworld.

With all of the third-party apps we install on our device's, we tend to forget there are some great native apps that come installed right out of the box. The Tasks app is one that I really never used in the past, but I've started to find more value in it recently. It can be used for various things, including to-do lists, reminders or even a shopping list. Its pretty easy to get the hang of as it doesn't have too many options to get in the way. Check out the video above for a quick look at the Tasks application and just how it gets the job done.

Amidst all the OS leaks going on it seems some folks have found that the Tour OS contained the latest BlackBerry Messenger release. After being extracted and an OTA made, you can now download BlackBerry Messenger 5.0.0.65. Of course, this is to be treated just like any other leaked item in the fact caution is urged when loading it. Be sure to back up your current contacts database.

After the keynote this morning I rolled by the BlackBerry booth and stumbled upon the Twitter pod. After some smooth talking (just kidding, no smooth talking required), I was informed that the Official Twitter for BlackBerry client will be rolling out to the public on March 31st. Only a few weeks ago it was rolled out as an invite-only beta, but if you still haven't checked it out you won't have to wait much longer. The beta has been going strong and although the results are mixed, everyone who hasn't yet had a chance to play with RIM's own Twitter client will surely be itching to get a hold of it in just over a week. Thats all we know for now, so keep it locked here and we'll bring you more details if anything pops up.
